Inspired by the banner hoisted near the White House by Greenpeace on January 17, a friend made RESIST tags for twenty of us to wear at a health care rally last week in Bakersfield, CA. The tag drew a lot of attention and helped us find each other in the huge crowd.
Directions to make the tag, using these materials:
Master
Type two columns of the word RESIST centered in each column, space type so the words RESIST align across the page.
If printing on card stock
Can make double-sided or one-sided tags
Single sided: cut printed card stock down middle, then each across.
Double-sided, cut strips across page and fold strips in half.
If printing on colored paper
If using colored paper, it’s best to make tags double-sided to be sturdy enough for repeated use.
Cut across so paper strips contain two RESISTs.
Fold strip in half.
Use double-stick tape along inside bottom edge of strip to secure the folded paper.
Affix clear Contac paper to protect the tag.**
Cut Contac paper into 3 1/2 “ by 5” rectangles.
Place tag paper at bottom edge of 5” sticky side of clear plastic and press down to secure.
Fold top half of sticky paper over the other side of tag paper.
There should be some sticky paper left that can be overlapped to secure the bottom edge of the tag.
Cut side edges close to paper but leave enough to keep tag sealed.
If covering double sided paper tags that have been secured at the base with double-stick tape, the bottom edge can be trimmed in same way sides are trimmed.
**NOTE: You can use self-laminating paper instead of clear Contac paper to protect the tags. Affix the laminating paper on top of the printed page before cutting the strips.
Hole punch
Use a paper punch to make a hole on the corner above the letter T.
(If you don’t have a paper punch but have a 3 hole paper punch, use one of the 3 punches to make the hole in the tag.)
Affix safety pin
Put a safety pin through the punched hole and go forth and resist!
